JSS Medical College, is located in a sprawling 43 acre campus in Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, Mysore City, which is about 140 Km from Bangalore. The city is famed for its educational institutions, salubrious climate and beautiful gardens. The college which was started in 1984 has been designed and equipped for dispensation of quality medical education. The institution is backed by highly qualified and experienced staff, well equipped laboratories, library, and modern teaching aids.
The graduate and post-graduate programs of the college are recognized by the Medical Council of India. The courses offered are also recognized by General Medical Council (UK), Sri Lanka Medical Council and WHO. The college has been recognized by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK, for the award of MRCOG.
The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka during 1995-1996.
After the formation of JSS University (Established under Section-3 of UGC Act) JSS Medical College has become a constituent college of the JSS University from the Academic year 2008-2009.
JSS Medical College, Mysore, was started in 1984-85 and is imparting education in medical sciences (MBBS) course. The JSS Medical College since its inception in 1984 – is dedicated to serving society as a center of excellence with emphasis on socially meaningful medical education, research and health care. The college has emerged as a pioneer in the state of Karnataka by providing medical and health care programs through internationalization, innovation in academic and research studies. The college offers undergraduate course in medicine (M.B.B.S) and postgraduate degree (M.D/M.S) and diploma programmes in 20 medical disciplines. The sanctioned annual intake to the M.B.B.S programme is 200. The college is offering Mc.h Urology, DM Gasteroentrology, DM Neurology. The college is also conducting course for B.Sc., in Respiratory Care Technology and M.Sc., (Psycho Social Rehabilitation) The courses offered are a perfect blend of community oriented, problem based learning with high quality clinical reasoning. The college provides M.Sc.,/ Ph.D., and M.D.,/ Ph.D., programmes in some subjects such as Physiology, Anatomy, etc., to encourage research in these basic subjects.

Admission Details
A candidate desirous for admission to various Undergraduate (UG) program at the constituent colleges of JSS University (JSSU) is required to complete the prescribed application form and submit to the university for consideration of admission.
- A candidate is required to complete the prescribed application form and submit the same to the University on or before the scheduled date. The downloaded and printed application form should be sent along with a processing fee of Rs. 2,000/- for Undergraduate (UG) programs by way of DD only favouring JSS University Fee Account, Mysore, payable at Mysore along with the documents as listed in the application.
- Candidates may also obtain by post the application form along with the Brochure by sending a processing fee of Rs.2,100/- for Undergraduate (UG) programs by way of DD favouring JSS University Fee Account, Mysore, payable at Mysore. After obtaining the application from the University candidates may send filled application form to the University address on or before the scheduled date along with documents listed in application.
- The candidates are required to visit the university website: www.jssuni.edu.in for latest updates, policies and application forms.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate seeking admission to MBBS courses should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination PUC II/HSC or the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) or any other examination equivalent to 10+2/ HSC examination of any recognized Board / University from any School / Colleges in India / Abroad after 12 years of study.
- The candidate should have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together in the qualifying examinations i.e. PUC II / 10+2 / HSC or equivalent and for SC, ST, category-I & OBC the eligibility will be 40%.
- The candidate should also have secured at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together in the JSSU Enterance Test and for SC, ST, category-I & OBC the eligibility will be 40% for admission to MBBS course.
