SDM College of Medical Sciences is situated at Manjushreenagar in Dharwad, Karnataka. The college is located near to Navalur railway station in between Hubli and Dharwad. The school offers educational courses in medicine and surgery leading to MBBS degree. The college is run by SDM Educational Society, Ujire. The college was established in the year 2003.The college has a well equipped hospital attached to it.
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Medical Sciences is the first modern medicine Medical College established under the aegis of the SDM Educational Society.  Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade has many maiden ventures to his credit, which have become legendary achievements under his gamut of social reforms.  His visionary conceptualisation of an ideal Medical College has taken shape at Dharwad.
The first batch of one hundred students commenced their I MBBS course in September 2004.  Under the stewardship of Medical Director Dr. Niranjan Kumar and Principal Dr. J. V. Chowti, the students have been cared for in an ideal atmosphere.  Located 6 kms from Dharwad on the Pune-Bangalore road in a spacious 52-acre land of serene surroundings, the SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital complex can boast of an ideal atmosphere for best medical education.  No attempt has been spared in providing the best infrastructure facilities needed for an ideal professional in the making.  Spacious location away from the noise of buzzing cities, pollution free environment and comfortable natural ambient temperature range of this part of Karnataka state can be an ideal dream of many parents drawn from various locations of India and abroad.

Admission Details

The Medical College is managed by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Society, Ujire/ Dharwad, which has the Linguistic Minority status (TULU Language).
Eligibility Criteria: 
For General  & Management /Institutional Preference Candidates:
To be eligible for admission into MBBS course, the candidate should have passed the qualifying examination PUC or 10+2 equivalent examination recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, having secured not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in PCB taken together. (40% in case of SC/ST)
Merit for selection is decided by the entrance (KCET/ COMEDK) examination result where in a minimum of 50% marks are mandatory.  However in respect of SC/ST candidates the minimum percentage of marks required is 40% instead of 50%.
Age Criteria:
Candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.  Candidates from outside Karnataka State must get eligibility certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.  Candidates of minority status should have Tulu speaking certificate from appropriate authorities.
Migration: 
Migration from one Medical College to another college after admission is generally not permitted and the Medical Council of India is the final authority to permit such change which considers only exceptional situations.
For Non-Karnataka & CBSE (10+2) Candidates : 
Candidates who has completed 10+12 from CBSE  Board & Non Karnataka Students should secure Eligibility Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore before admission process and students who have completed 10+12 other than in India should apply for Foreign Eligibility Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore before admission process. Similarly Non Karnataka student should obtain Migration Certificate from competent authorities of their respect state before seeking admission.
For NRI / NRI Sponsored Candidates:
For NRI Candidates/NRI Sponsored Candidates should secure Eligibility Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore before seeking admission.  (for further detail please logon to  www.rguhs.ac.in for online application).
They should get clearance from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi & Local Police Commissioner as well as from their respective foreign embassy.
